Okay, so you may think you and your family beat your car up. In fact, we see a lot of cars here at Future Hyundai of Concord that have been put through their paces. But we bet you could never compete with the amount of damage a group of monkeys is capable of.
Which is exactly what Hyundai was thinking when they rolled into the Knowsley Safari Park with an i30 hatchback - a family car similar to the Hyundai Elantra you'll find here in Concord. Then what'd they do? Well, they put the car in park, opened the doors, and let a group of baboons (forty of them!) have at it. For ten hours.
Why? We think i30 Product Manager Felicity Wood sums it up best. She says, "We decided to take a new approach with this durability test. The fact that it survived with only a few scrapes is testament to the way a modern Hyundai is designed and engineered."1
And to say thank you for letting Hyundai use the park as a testing ground for their car, they donated 1,000 GBP ($1,567) to the UK park. The park's General Manager, David Ross says, "For a baboon, to have a car to play with for a whole day is manna from heaven."2 And they certainly did enjoy it - yanking on the wipers, crawling through the interior, and even eating their lunch in the driver's seat.
So, if you need a car that can handle your kids, all of your stuff, and your family road trips, you can be sure there's a new Hyundai model in our showroom for you. Stop by and take one for a spin at 1051 Burnett Ave Concord, CA 94520.
