Since the 2012 Hyundai Elantra is already the 2012 North American Car of the Year, we almost feel silly telling you about any of the other awards it's earned. But, we just can't help ourselves - we love this car, and so do a lot of drivers in the Concord area. It's beautifully designed, is an exceptional value, and was most recently named a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

Hyundai calls the Elantra, "A car so safe, it scares the competition."1 In other words, it features a laundry list of both active and passive safety features to help you avoid accidents and keep you safe in the event of an accident.

Safety features of the 2012 Elantra include (but certainly aren't limited to):
- Vehicle Stability Management System
- Electronic Stability Control
- Traction Control System
- Anti-lock Braking System
- Brake Assist
- Six standard airbags
- Dual rear-door side-impact beams

Furthermore, to be named an IIHS Top Safety Pick, a vehicle must receive a top-rating of "Good" in the front- and side-impact tests, roof strength test, and the seat/head restraint safety evaluations.

Like we said though, this is just one of many awards heaped upon the Elantra this year. Other awards include a "Superior" ranking for from the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy, "Best Car Under $20,000" from AOL Autos, 2012 Highest Residual Value from ALG, and Kbb.com says, "If this were a beauty contest or a price war...Elantra would win it hands down."2
