Just as one of America's largest automakers announced plans to pull their advertising dollars out of social media ads and Super Bowl commercials, Hyundai is proclaiming that they're going to do just the opposite. The announcement from GM came as quite a surprise to many in the auto industry - as Hyundai is only one of quite a few companies taking to Facebook and the Twittersphere to reach a wider audience. And what better way to grab the attention of even more people than with the country's most-watched sporting event?

Rest assured, Hyundai fans - you'll see more light-hearted and creative ads from the Korean automaker again in 2013. Not only that, but you'll likely see hashtags in the ads, as Hyundai plans to integrate their social media with their TV commercials.

Steve Shannon, Hyundai's Marketing Vice President says, "The Super Bowl is a perfect venue for a brand like Hyundai. We are extremely pleased to be an advertiser on the 2013 Super Bowl. In addition to the fact that this is far and away the best-watched television program in the U.S., the social media opportunities continue to grow every year and we expect even more impact from this aspect of our advertising on the Super Bowl next year."1

So it might be a bit too early to speculate about the ads we'll see in January of next year, but that won't stop us. We hope to see the Hyundai Santa Fe and maybe the zippy the Veloster - but only time will tell, we suppose.
