The North American International Auto Show wrapped up recently, and with almost every automaker on the planet introducing a new vehicle or technology, we were left with a lot to be excited about. Perhaps the best news came from our favorite Korean automaker which debuted a brand-new concept car: the HCD-14 Genesis Concept.
This concept was created to inspire the next-generation Hyundai Genesis which has been leading the charge as the company pushes its way into the luxury sedan market along with the popular Hyundai Equus. This car is all about elegance and comfort. From bumper to bumper, the HCD-14 Concept is loaded with technology like 3-D gesture recognition and eye-tracking systems in place to make the driver's experience as effortless as possible.
It's not just about gadgets though. We can tell that Hyundai still means business as the Genesis is targeted to hold onto the 5.0-liter direct injected V8 engine. Milled-wood appointments and leather seats adorn the cabin which makes it clear this is an upper-class ride.
Chief Designer at Hyundai Design North America, Christopher Chapman commented on the new Concept by saying, "Its sleek and lightweight silhouette does not punish the wind. But it uses fluidic precision with dramatic surfacing that conveys natural restraint. Inside, a driver-centric cockpit prioritizes dramatic sculpture over infotainment button overload. Laminated and milled-wood detailing delivers a fresh, topographical map-like visual interest throughout the cabin-length center console."1
We are told that the new HCD-14 inspired Genesis won't be gracing our extensive inventory of new and used Hyundai vehicles for some time but we are still excited. You can learn more about the upcoming Genesis, or the car's current incarnation by stopping by the Future Hyundai of Concord showroom located at 1051 Burnett Ave Concord, CA. We hope to see you soon.
