Last week, our team here at your Hyundai dealers near Richmond, Future Hyundai of Concord, was thrilled to learn that our beloved 2016 Hyundai Tucson was named a finalist for the Green Car Journal’s 2016 Green SUV of the Year award! Each year the magazine picks five finalists are considered for the award, which will be announced at next year’s Washington Auto Show on January 21, 2016. The award recognizes the most fuel-efficient SUV/crossover vehicles and the environmental leaders that they bring to the auto industry. Keep reading to find out more!
The magazine’s vetting process considers a wide range of SUVs and crossovers to help determine each vehicle’s environmental advantages and breakthroughs to narrow the field down to the five finalists. The magazine’s goal is to recognize those vehicles that take personal transportation in a more positive environmental direction while maintaining the joy of driving and the functionality expected of an SUV or crossover. Factors that are considered include fuel efficiency, weight reduction, advanced drivetrain technologies, use of alterative or clean fuels, and more! Each finalist must have been on sale by January 1st of this model year. Ron Cogan, editor and publisher of Green Car Journal and CarsOfChange.com, had this to say about the 2016 Hyundai Tucson:
