CPO vs Used: What's the Difference?

In the market for a Hyundai that has already been broken in? You have two options: used or certified pre-owned. Now, used vehicles are pretty self-explanatory, but what about certified pre-owned? CPO is a smaller, more elite subset of used vehicles. While every vehicle eventually becomes used, CPO takes a bit of extra work.

Before it can become CPO, a Hyundai needs to be under five model years old, and it needs to have been driven for fewer than 60,000 miles. If it passes those two checks, it then has to go through a strict 150-point inspection and refurbishing process. Any sub-par point needs to be repaired or replaced with OEM Hyundai parts. CPO Hyundai models also come with bonus features like an enhanced warranty plan and roadside assistance.

There are some downsides to CPO, though. Since it's so difficult for a model to become CPO, the CPO inventory is usually much smaller than the regular used inventory. In addition to their wider inventory, used vehicles are often more competitively priced. Both used models and CPO models have their pros and cons.
